susanreads: a red squirrel (autumn)

In the last couple of weeks, the temperature has been going up and down like a yoyo (it really has, it's not just me feeling the downswing of my menopausal failure-of-temperature-control, I swear), and the weather has been Typically British. It's generally felt like Summertime Is Nearly over.

Then the other day I went out in the evening, I guess it had been windy, and there were fallen leaves everywhere.

That'll be autumn then.

Yesterday I spotted a ladybird on the plant I need to cut back (grow in the yard, not on the path, dammit!) next to my front door. Are they an autumn thing? Maybe they've been around all summer and I just didn't notice (I unnotice a lot of things).

I've been feeling a bit grotty in several ways lately. My brain hasn't been firing on all cylinders for a day or two; this might be something to do with the way I stay up really late, still have difficulty getting to sleep, then sleep in and get up feeling as if I'm not really awake yet, get only half the stuff done that I was going to do during the day, and stay up to do Just One More Thing.

I'm coming down with a cold. My throat was feeling it all yesterday and now it's in my nose as well. Yesterday I kept feeling a chill and I don't know whether it's external, menopausal, or the cold.

The plantar fasciitis in my left heel has been painful for days - since before the Tai Chi class on Wednesday, at least (walking back from there was really tiring). Today I had a bit of it in my right heel as well. I haven't been very diligent with the exercises the doctor gave me, because they're tiring and in some cases scary, but what I have done doesn't seem to have worked.

The internet-bookable GP appointments are at really awkward times; I'll have to phone up sometime when I'm awake and they're open, but often the day's appointments go before I can get through. I also need a blood test to see whether the Adcal tablets I've been taking for months have helped my Vitamin D levels; I can't remember whether that needs to be booked, and how. At least it won't be a fasting blood test this time.

It is very autumnal isn't it but we have loads of ladybirds around here. It's very strange.

I do hope the cold proves to not be too bad and ouch about the plantar fasciitis, I know they are very painful. Mine just went.

I take Adcal as well :)
