Voting reform

How many issues have the Greens, the Liberal Democrats, UKIP, the SNP and Plaid Cymru all in agreement?

If you're in the UK, pretty much whoever you voted for, you've probably noticed that our voting system is a big mess. The Electoral Reform Society and Unlock Democracy are running a joint campaign to do something about it, with a petition which is to be handed in on May 18th: Make Seats Match Votes.

Already signed. It's pissed me off for a long time that my vote seems to count for nothing like the vast majority of other people who support minority parties. It's heartening to hear that some Labour and Conservative MPs are saying that there needs to be some sort of political reform.

Perhaps with some Labour and Conservative MPs agreeing, there's a chance then! Previous attempts at reform have failed because the big parties were always against it.

All these things I sign send me links to "share" them on Twitter and Faceborg, which I'm not on, then I thought: hang on, I've got a journal!

I think the two larger parties will eventually get pushed into some kind of reform as politics are changing so much and becoming much more fractured with smaller parties sprouting up or becoming stronger. There should be an independent committee to work out the best system for us.
